		1 ton of carbon is equivalent to 3.7 tons of CO2; and inversely 1 ton of CO2 is equivalent to 0.27 tons of carbon.

		Depending on wood moisture and wood species 1 m³ wood contains about 0.25 tons of carbon and can bind about 0.925 tons of CO2.

		A mature tree includes a wood volume of about 1 solid cubic metre, and from planting to harvest it can bind a CO2 quantity of about 900 kg.

		In 2006, the entire tourist-related CO2 emission in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania added up to 530 kt.

		This quantity would be bound by a forest of nearly 700 km² each year, as long as it grows.

		Reforestation and maintenance of 10 m² forest cost about 10 €.

MeetMV gets involved in climate protection - environmental friendly meetings and congresses

One aim of the Meeting and Incentivepool MeetMV is the protection of the environment.
Being one of the first planting trees in the „Climate forest“ and buying 100 „Waldaktien“, the Meeting and Incentivepool MeetMV is addressing environmentally conscious meeting planner and organizer.

On the website www.meet-mv.com or www.waldaktie.de you can symbolically buy one or more 10 sqm forest areas and become involved in planting six „Climate forests“ to compensate the CO2 emissions of your meeting in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The following two scenario demonstrate typical meeting situations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Scenario 1 "meeting":

● 1-day-event
● arrival and departure distance 50 km
● arrival by train
● no overnight stay
● meeting and evening event

There will be a carbon dioxide emission of about 17 kg per meeting participant.

Scenario 2 "congress":

● 3-days-congress
● arrival and departure distance 250 km
● journey by middle-class car
● 3 overnight stays in a 4 *- hotel
● congress, excursion program and evening event

There will be a carbon dioxide emission of about 162 kg per congress participant.
